A young man is encouraged to visit a prostitute by his friends. Mirrors shows this 30 minute encounter.
Their discussions make them to revisit the views for both sexes. Creator Tim van den Heuvel wanted to create a meeting between a young man discovering his sexuality and a young woman who’s only seen as a lust object. Where media always has it’s opinion ready to go, Tim tries to reevaluate the judgement by showing the value of a meeting like this.
Tim has a love for film and theatre, and his investigation into the way both disciplines can hit and they can reinforce each other. Theatre and film come together to tell a story.
Mirrors has English subtitles.
★★★All prejudices razed to the ground. Deeply impressed by the way the makers and players of the piece kept every sense busy from the intro to the end. Mirrors has made me think.
LostProject is a group of diverse young people from Amsterdam, who create performances about gender, gender roles, cultural identity and politics and is a regular to the Tolhuistuin since 2016.
Lost Projects helps create awareness for the other side, or what people feel like is the other. The celebration of differences instead of the distance between them. Meeting without the pressure of the way it must go. To not scream about being right but to create an understanding. Where fear, ignorance, prejudice and misunderstanding are at play, LostProject creates a space for understanding and acceptance.
