VERS VAN DE PERS: Nina de la Parra krijgt Sylvia Kristel Award 2016
NINA’S SONGS FOR THE BROKENHEARTED
Nina is a fuckfeminist slut looking for love.
She sings about the pressing issues of her generation: Tinder dates gone horribly wrong, Facebook-stalking your ex, refusing to give your boyfriend a blowjob, screwing the crew, and dickpics.
Yet at the bottom of this silly raunchiness lies an awkward quest for love. Can someone please explain to Nina WHO is to blame for her persistent failure in relationships?
Could it possibly be her genes? (She descends from a long line of sluts, as was proven recently when she found some old letters written by her grandma.) Or is it our high-pressured society focussing on romantic perfection that makes it so hard to love? (It’s either that or the slut thing.)
Swiftly balancing social criticism with awkward honesty about why life sometimes just deals us a hard blow (even if your girlfriend won’t), Nina leaves nothing out to impress her audience (and by audience she mostly means the hot guys in the back).
Nina’s Songs for the Brokenhearted is a critical observation of banal female problems, sexuality and image in a privileged first world context – but all feminism aside, it is mostly a captivating jazz concert delivered by the biggest slut you will ever meet.
I’m not going to spend each hour
helping you to claim your power
I’m not going to suck your dick
each time you step out of the shower
