duration of the performance: 30 min
What happens to a little girl when she grows up in a family where domestic and sexual violence is normalized? Is it odd that she is unable to have sex with men, or that she sexualizes her own trauma? And what is ‘generational trauma’?
Daddy’s little problem is an autobiographical solo performance about domestic and sexual violence and how it leaves a mark on the children who grew up in it. Domestic violence and talking about it is one thing, but the aftermath is often forgotten.
Through visual storytelling, Priscilla takes you back to her childhood. Step into the colorful inner world of a little girl and become a witness to the sexual violence that has been going on in her family for generations.
As a visual artist with a great love for obscurity and absurdism, Priscilla ter Voert has taken a new direction with Daddy’s little problem to draw attention to people who are victims of domestic violence.
What started with the question ‘Why am I so aggressive?’ has grown into a theatrical search of her own emotional and sexual development after growing up in an unsafe household. In 2023 she graduated from PACT+ theater as an actress and maker and in 2024 she was able to further develop herself as a creator at Likeminds Factory.
As an actress she performed in: Voor Junkies Die De Wereld Gaan Redden & Voor Sletten Die Zijn Verkracht (Toni Blackwell), Ro & Juul (Isabella D. Kovács) and many more!
