duration of the performance: 25 min
In a world where everything is designed to be fast, waiting, and to be bored are the worst enemies of human beings. ”En Attendant” is a magic performance that shares with the audience how important it is to sometimes be bored and let space to your mind to lead you on the path of wonder, of “What if?”, and of “Is it possible?”.
In this piece the illusionist Ahmed Mokadem invites you to observe the “waiter”. To travel with him on a magic journey and to see where the waiting may lead him.
Wherever his mind wonders, his hands follow. Come, Closer. Wait with him and experience how the magic unfolds.
Ahmed is a versatile artist. As a movement explorer, illusionist, and choreographer he likes to work and create with instinct and feelings. It’s around 2018 that he first discovered magic while meeting the French illusionist Arthur Chavaudret. Soon after that, he discovers contemporary circus while working with the festival Turbul en Chap.
His thirst for creation in the two freshly discovered disciplines eventually led him to study floor-acrobatics in the Circus school of Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde in Paris. And then in Fontys Circus And Performance Art in Tilburg, Netherlands.
Ahmed worked with different circus and dance companies through the years and first created a collective with his closest friends from school, Cie Mü.
After a while he realised that most of the stories he wanted to share needed a surrealism touch. He thus created his own Cie as an acrobat and illusionist, the Cie Vanished / Les disparues.
