Angelena and Helmert are polar opposites. Helmert grew up in the fancy part of Amsterdam, surrounded by poetry, classical music and expensive ties. But he would rather use such a tie to hang himself, for he is done with his career-focused upbringing and the pressure to become a successful author. What prevents him from ending his miserable life? The friendship and the daily cup of coffee he shares with a foul-mouthed trailer park dweller named Angelena. She comes from a family of chavs and fairground workers. Honest and hot-tempered, but with a big heart.
In De Billen van David (David’s Ass Cheeks), we merge two different worlds together. From Dutch pub music to poetry, it all happens at this trailer park. Debunking all stereotypes and celebrating our differences.
Biography
Priscilla Pancras and Tim Veeter are also polar opposites. After more than 10 years of friendship, they are still trying to understand and accept each other.
Priscilla is an actress and theatre maker. She has a great love for obscurity, absurdism and visual storytelling. In her work she explores the dark side of humanity. In 2023 she graduated from PACT+ Theatre, and in 2024 she developed herself as a maker at Stichting Likeminds.
Tim works as an actor in the theatre world and for film and television. In addition, he is a writer. In 2015 he completed the Theatre Studies program at the University of Amsterdam. His writing and creative style are characterised by dry humour, realism versus absurdism and a mix of the literary and the banal.
De Billen van David is directed by Jelle Stiphout. During his studies at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts he explored a wide range of disciplines as a director, from musical theatre and site-specific theatre to visual arts and performance art. His work experiments with the boundary between entertainment and the arts.
