We hold the space where worlds collide. We dream and fear, side by side.
The stories in FLOAT delve into the disorientation and fragmentation of our present moment, while also uncovering the possibilities that emerge from the collapse of long-held collective dreams. Stories of birth, destruction, longing, and resilience interweave personal, mythical, and fictional threads.
A man cleans out an ant’s nest and discovers he is more vulnerable than the creatures whose house he just destroyed. A woman recounts her experience of giving birth – or is she herself being born? A harp’s soothing melody might shift into something sinister, and an intimate story expands into a collective experience.
As the stage blurs into reality and you navigate this fractured dreamscape, you become more than an observer. From chaos, new beginnings arise. Will you linger on the surface or dive into the depths?
Welcome to LOOM, a collective of storytellers who navigate the fractured landscapes of a disoriented world. With our stories, we challenge, connect, and stir something real. For us, storytelling is more than a performance. It is a radical act of vulnerability, reflection and connection.
Our stories unfold in different voices and forms. Sometimes playful, sometimes raw, but always deeply human. They don’t just ask you to listen. They invite you in: to feel, to wonder, to question, and to carry something with you long after the lights go down.
We met at the Mezrab Storytelling School. After graduating, we decided to join forces. To inspire each other, to create together and play.
LOOM consists of nine storytellers from different generations, backgrounds and disciplines: Brazilian, Dutch, Turkish-Dutch, French, Italian, Limburgish and Romanian. We are scientists, musicians, artists, comedians, writers, and everything in between.
We invite you to step into our interwoven stories. Lose yourself in the threads—or let yourself be woven along and become part of the tapestry.
LOOM are: Ana Bender, Isadora Alves, Joost Delissen, Luana Matei, Maarten Duinker, Marion Laville, Halil Çikmazkara, Natalino Bucci, and Wytske Versteeg
