Amsterdam Fringe Festival and Nederlands Theaterfestival are transforming the charming Klein Bellevue into an underground, late-night stage featuring short interviews, acts, and live music, hosted by Rikkert van Huisstede. At the Late Night Bar, you can mingle with friends and strangers alike, letting yourselves be moved deep into the night, with a drink in hand.

B&B and Friends

For Roept U Maar!, Boaz and Brendan use Visual Vernacular (VV). This unique form of theater is primarily performed by deaf artists. It features powerful physical theater, large movements, recognized gestures from Dutch Sign Language, mime, and strong facial expressions to visually amplify concepts.

Boaz Blume
Boaz Blume is a member of the deaf poets’ collective Kitchen’s Light and performs in Dutch Sign Language. He has performed at venues such as the Bijlmerparktheater, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Poetry International, and Oerol. He has created poetry clips like Heartbeat. With Kitchen’s Light, he appeared in the film Imaginings. Additionally, Boaz is a dancer in the performance Grondslag by 20Hertz and has been active in the youth program Hands Up by KRO-NCRV. In his daily life, he is a teacher of Dutch Sign Language.
Brendan Lodder

Brendan is Amsterdam based with a West Frisian twist and a deaf performer. His performances have been seen at Oerol, Het Pakhuis Hoorn, Beholders, Poetry International, and various locations throughout the Netherlands.

From his very first year, Brendan has used his mother tongue, Dutch Sign Language. Over the years, he discovered his love for storytelling, using his rich imagination, expressing himself with strong facial expressions, and playing with hand shapes. He is eager to share his passion for performance with others.

He aims to showcase the richness and beauty of sign language and the various forms of sign language in art.

Julia-Beth Harris

South African-born poet, Julia-Beth Harris, writes creative texts and performs them. With a design background her words embody a visual, multi-layered quality. Her studies in creative writing at the International Writer’s Collective in Amsterdam turned a lifelong love for words into a dedicated vocation.
 

Having identities on different continents positions Julia-Beth’s art between the global North and South. With an emphasis on unification as activism, her writings serve as a bridge between cultures, bringing together international communities with grace, intellect, and calmly commanding stage presence.
