“Motel Bed – a Pillow Princess Fantasy” is a new creation by The Pretty Poison Cabaret”.
The piece is a deconstructed queer cabaret that takes place in and around a turning motel bed. The bed acts as a scenographic and performative center point, a turning stage where 6 cabaret performers move between acts of singing, dancing, storytelling and acting.
“We are in a nameless motel, in the bed where many bodies passed through. The satin sheets are shiny pink, the bed frame is lush and decorated. A queen size bed – 6 queens of the night – 6 cabaret artists of the sheets. A place where Intimate memories of many different bodies and times interweave and mysteries unfold…”
The piece explores themes of intimacy, love, desire and identity through a non-linear structure that involves and engages the audience. Spectators are invited to move between being voyeurs and participants in a performance that bends genre expectations and explores the intersection of private and public.
