“The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner: Remixed” is a hip-hop retelling of the 200-year-old poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Taking dynamic visuals and mixing it with live performance, this hip-hop duet is part theatre, part concert, all storytelling. Giving new appreciation to both classic literature and hip-hop.
Biography
Julian Shakes Story is an independent performance company that has produced a variety of alternative hip-hop theatre. It was formed in 2021 at the Santa Fe Playhouse with a performance of the Q Brothers’ Othello: The Remix. The Amsterdam Fringe performance of The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner is its first iteration beyond a solo production.
