Is believing in the impossible a matter of willpower, hope, or… is it just delulu? ‘To Believe in Magic ‘is a multidisciplinary magic show in which the desire to believe is put to the test. For her first theatre production Rosa Doornenbal collaborates with performers Dino Desica, Natalie Price Hafslund, and Clara Saito. Together, they crack open the magic box and embark on a journey where expectation, failure, and illusion continuously shift and transform. A magic show that mirrors, twists, and stretches itself, searching for a way to find trust and navigate uncertainty in a seemingly absurd world. Let yourself be swept away by this surreal spectacle that is raw, funny and vulnerable all at once.

Biography

Rosa Doornenbal, the initiator of ‘To Believe in Magic’, is a multidisciplinary performance artist and producer working across performance, video, and sculpture. Her work is inspired by the construction of personal and collective ideas around desirability, morality, and success in relation to gender and identity. She questions the reliability of our thoughts and dreams within a neoliberal socio-political landscape. Often referring to cultural phenomena and socio-historical myths, she reappropriates them into new contexts where they can be questioned—or deliberately disrupted. Her practice frequently veers into the absurd, using humor to open up space for non-normative and divergent ways of thinking.
