Where a ladybug watch is hidden because time goes too slow. Where tally marks are drawn after every outlived day. Where fights should pass for hugs.
A child is punished for the lovelessness of her parents. You can cry on the sofa, in front of the television, when the supervisors of the closed youth detention center aren’t watching and continue to fill in their crossword puzzles. The weekend as even greater torment than the week. Unloved children as hungry chickens looking for the missing purpose in their lives.
This is the story of a child left to fend for herself. This story raises the question to what extent it is ethical to lock up children in an environment that offers far from protection. This is not a story of forgiveness, pity, nor revenge. This is reclaiming the narrative.
